Virtual Talk: Chris Okada. What the hell is going on in the NYC Commercial Real Estate Market?
6 October, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Christopher Okada is a prolific deal maker, entrepreneur, and CEO of Okada & Company, a full-service commercial real estate brokerage and investment company in New York City.
Vacancies are at an all time high since the start of the pandemic, everyone is working from home (WFH) and businesses are struggling to pay rent. According to a recent NYT article, 9 out every 10 Restaurants and Bars in N.Y.C. Can’t Pay Full Rent. What does that mean to the businesses? Landlords? Banks? NYC?
Is NYC going to come back? What is going to happen to the shared economy business model for example: WeWork and other shared office spaces?
Christopher rose to distinction during the financial crisis of 2009 and its recovery by using the market’s lowered state to transact in nearly $1B commercial real estate sales and leasing transactions in Midtown and Downtown Manhattan.
In 2011 Christopher founded The Okada Acquisition Company to begin acquiring prime office, retail, and multi-family properties in the Midtown and Midtown South submarkets of Manhattan. Acquisitions include 41-45 West 34th Street a prime office building in the Herald Square section of Midtown, a brand new luxury condominium development known as 432 West 52nd Street, and other office and retail properties like 894 Avenue of the Americas, 148 West 24th Street, and the retail at 135 West 52nd Street.
Christopher is an avid blogger, speaker, and thought leader relating to entrepreneurship and real estate subjects. He has been featured numerous time in publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New York Post, The Real Deal Magazine, Crain’s NY, The Observer, and many other digital and print news agencies.
Christopher is a long time volunteer and advocate of youth programs assisting children of Queens New York, including Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic School and more recently The Riverfund New York.
