Virtual Talk: Min Santandrea. What does Sustainable Fashion mean during a Pandemic?
7 October, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Min Santandrea is the founder of SantM: functional luxury, comfort chic, handmade in Italy footwear brand. She set out to give modern women a newfound sense of freedom and ease in their day-to-day lives. Imagine slipping on a well-appointed shoe and walking out the door. Never again carry a second pair of shoes, waste time in front of the mirror in the morning, keep extra shoes under your desk or trade fashion for comfort.
She is an expert when it comes to ‘sustainable fashion.’ We’re all in a pandemic, but how can we be smart shoppers and even smarter consumers for pieces that will have a longer life in your closet? From fast fashion to couture, Min has an impressive background and will walk us through the journey of design to consumer. What can we learn about fashion fashion vs sustainable fashion and what it does to our environment. Our spending behavior may have changed, but how can be more conscious and savvy-er.
Min started her career as an intern at Prada, launched UNIQLO in the U.S. and managed $500M of women’s accessories at Walmart. Before retail, she worked at the Guggenheim and the Whitney museums where she cultivated her aesthetics and appreciation for beauty. She has an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Art History from Wesleyan University. She is a great supporter of female education and empowerment as a member of the Women’s Circle at Columbia University, Female Founder Collective, M/WBE and Every Mother Counts. She is a former armature boxer and has fought in many competitions including The Golden Gloves. She is a mother of two children and lives in NYC.
